ALS #icebucketchallenge

Saturday 16th of August 2014

The Carl's Cards Crew accepted the ALS #icebucketchallenge! Lauren was nominated by Carolyn Bachman and Carl was nominated by Sandy Hannigan. We turned it into a chance to have the whole crew join in and lucky for us our team members are up for anything! Sue, Steve and Joe joined in as relatives of the Henderson family were more than eager to jump ice water on all of us. Watch the video here.

We certainly hope that this challenge not only leads to incompreshensible donations to ALS, but that it also leads to unparalleld awareness to this disease. We not only completed the challenge, but we also donated to our local chapter. We now nominate George Nahm of George's Cards and Collectibles, Pat Waters of Sports Vault, AllStarInc, CCC Hall of Famers Joe Stinger and Harry Crossgrove (Teach). Good Luck. You have 24 hours to complete this challenge or make a donation to ALS. As a very good friend of CCC said, we hope this continues to raise awareness to this disease and not become a thing that entertained us in the summer of 2014.

"Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed." Learn more about ALS here.
